    Best Time to Visit

Seoul has four very distinct seasons, so visitors can choose which they prefer most, though mid-summer and mid-winter are often deemed unbearably humid and bitterly cold respectively. Flower festivals in Spring are a real treat.

    What to Pack

Carry bags rather than wheeled ones for uneven or cobblestone pavements. Both male and female toiletries are less abundant than in many countries, so bring deodorants and essentials. And name cards to share with nearly everyone you meet.

    General Tips

Seoul’s most important artworks are conveniently kept almost exclusively in one location – The National Museum of Korea. Opened in 1945, it is reported to hold 220,000 items.

More contemporary art works though can be found at Seoul Museum of Art opened in 1988, and the private Ilmin Museum of Art established in 1996 and focusing on local artists with most works privately collected by Kim Sang-man, a former newspaper company president. The Korea Art Fair, KIAF, takes place each September.

Korea’s modern culture, made famous by K-Pop, can be found in Cheongdam-dong where a K-Pop street is being developed that includes cafes where fans can dine under the recording studios – and if lucky run in to their favorite artists.
